In Madhya Pradesh’s Harda district, a debt ridden farmer who was troubled by lenders committed suicide. According to the police, Lakshminarayan Karod, 44, had poison on Tuesday and passed away on Friday at a hospital. Virendra Karod, the victim’s son, revealed to the media that his father was financially struggling under a debt of almost Rs 40 lakh. He was brought to the district hospital in Harda, which is 40 km distant, transferred to a private hospital, and then brought back, but he couldn’t be saved. On Friday at noon, he passed away. The amount of his debt he owed is being looked into by the police. The body has undergone an autopsy.
