Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis praised Pimpri-Chinchwad Police for recording the state’s fastest response time on the emergency helpline Dial 112.
Speaking at a ceremony organised by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, Fadnavis said the force had secured first place among Maharashtra’s police commissionerates.
The police reduced their average emergency response time to just three minutes, he said.
Their prompt action has strengthened public confidence and improved security, particularly for women and senior citizens, while enabling officers to respond quickly to criminal incidents.
The ceremony marked the inauguration of 350 body-worn cameras, 65 new patrol vehicles and four surveillance drones to strengthen policing capabilities.
Authorities also introduced an artificial intelligence-based investigation system, advanced citywide CCTV surveillance and an Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS).
Fadnavis performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the state-of-the-art Pimpri Police Complex.
The facility will accommodate the Zone-1 office, the regional office of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and 200 modern residential units for police personnel.
Highlighting the city’s rapid expansion as an industrial and IT hub, Fadnavis said Pimpri-Chinchwad’s population could exceed Pune’s within the next 15 years.
He stressed that the police must remain technologically advanced, agile and adequately equipped to manage emerging law-and-order challenges as the city grows.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar also attended the event.
The initiatives aim to strengthen emergency response, modernise policing infrastructure and improve public safety amid Pimpri-Chinchwad’s continued urban and economic growth.
