Deve Gowda Targets Congress Manifesto, Says- Party Knows Very Well That It Will Never Come To Power

Criticizing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘promise on wealth redistribution’, former Prime Minister and JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda said only a person devoid of practical knowledge can say such a thing.

Former Prime Minister and JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda made fun of Congress manifesto at a press conference on Wednesday (April 24), said that only a party can make so many promises which knows very well that it will never come to power.

He said that Congress wants to take this country in the opposite direction and by the kind of promises it is making it can be seen that it wants to come back to power at any cost.

Criticizing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘promise on redistribution of wealth’, he said on Wednesday that only a person devoid of practical knowledge can say such a thing.

Deve Gowda said, ‘Rahul Gandhi wants to survey the property and distribute the property. Does he think he is a people’s leader?’

Recalling the contribution of former Prime Ministers PV Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh towards economic liberalisation, he said, ‘He is dreaming of a revolution. By talking about redistribution of assets, Rahul Gandhi has insulted these two former Prime Ministers of the country, who had increased the country’s assets by carrying out economic reforms.

Deve Gowda alleged that Rahul Gandhi indirectly tried to say that what these two former prime ministers did was wrong.

How will Rahul Gandhi provide 30 lakh jobs?
Referring to some points from the Congress manifesto ‘Nyay Patra’, Deve Gowda said, ‘Rahul Gandhi wants to provide 30 lakh new jobs in the central government. I have also run the country. There are only 40 lakh sanctioned jobs. How can he add 30 lakh more jobs overnight? From where will he pay salaries to these people? Where will he give them employment?

He wondered whether Rahul Gandhi would give them a job as a ‘lift operator’ in government offices in four shifts.

Deve Gowda said, ‘Only a person devoid of practical knowledge can talk like this. (P.) Chidambaram was the chairman of the manifesto committee. Does he agree with these immature economic views of Rahul Gandhi?
