Usman Ghani, the district president of the Bikaner BJP Minority Morcha, was suspended from party on Wednesday for “tarnishing” its reputation after he voiced his disapproval of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent comments in Rajasthan.
In an interview with a television channel, Ghani predicted that BJP would lose three to four of Rajasthan’s 25 Lok Sabha seats.
Additionally, he denounced Modi’s comments made on Muslims during state election rallies.
Ghani expressed his disappointment in Prime Minister Modi’s remarks about Muslims when he was questioned about them.
He claimed that the community members “look for answers” from him when he “goes to Muslims to seek votes” for the BJP because they discuss the PM’s comments.
Additionally, he stated that the Jat community in the state is upset with BJP and that they had voted against it in Churu and other seats.
In addition, Ghani declared that he was unafraid of any action the party would take in response to his remarks.
Following the viral release of a video showing Ghani speaking with a news channel reporter, Onkar Singh Lakhawat, the head of the BJP state disciplinary committee, claimed that Ghani was attempting to “tarnish” the party’s reputation.
“The party took cognizance of the act of Usman Ghani to tarnish its image and expelled him from the primary membership of the party for six years, considering it a breach of discipline,” Lakhawat said in a statement.
The first round of elections for the Bikaner Lok Sabha seat took place on April 19.
PM Modi made the comment on Sunday at a rally in Banswara, Rajasthan, saying that the Congress would “redistribute” money to Muslims if it comes in power. According to him, the Congress intends to give the “infiltrators” and “those who have more children” the hard-earned cash and possessions of the people.
The comments have drawn criticism from a number of opposing parties.
