Deoria: Locals In Fatehpur Village Protest Revenue Department Visit, Section 144 Imposed After Murder

Locals in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur village opposed the measurement of a gram sabha land on Monday, according to a senior official. The Revenue Department team had been visiting the location for measurement where six people were killed in a land dispute.

Six days after the horrifying incident, a team from the Revenue Department went to the village of Fatehpur. When they arrived at Prem Chand Yadav’s property, who was killed in the incident, the villagers stopped them.

In the Fatehpur Gramme Sabha region of Rudrapur, section 144 was immediately imposed for a month.

Prem Yadav, a 50-year-old former district panchayat member, was killed on October 2 by Satyaprakash Dubey and his family after being attacked with sharp-edged weapons while on his way to home.

Soon after, in retaliation, Yadav’s supporters from Abhaipur attacked Dubey’s home and mercilessly murdered him along with five members of his family, including children.

Since then, police force has been deployed in the village to maintain the law.

A complaint against Premchand Yadav registered by Dubey to the revenue department, who alleged Yadav had constructed his home on gramme sabha land.

On Monday, a group of people sat in front of the revenue team as they approached Premchand Yadav’s home, causing Rudrapur CO Anshuman Srivastav to hastily arrive at the location.

Some villagers were upset, but Chief Revenue Officer Rajnish Rai, who was there, said the situation is normal now.

The area was also examined by three tehsildars (revenue employees), and the appropriate action will be taken.

Vyas Yadav, president of the Samajwadi Party district unit, claimed that the revenue department did not carry out the measurements in accordance with the law.

Arvind Sahni, the party’s district vice president, also accused Uttar Pradesh government of doing work with partiality.
