Delhi’s Top Police Son Found Dead In Canal Near Haryana, Accused Arrested

The son of a police officer was discovered dead in a canal by the Delhi Police lately. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Yashpal Singh’s son, Lakshya Chauhan went missing since January 22.

Vikas Bharadwaj, the main accused in the case, was also taken into custody by the police on January 28.

Mid-thirties lawyer Lakshya went in an SUV with two other people, Abhishek and Vikas Bharadwaj, a clerk at Tis Hazari Court, to attend a wedding in Bhiwani, Haryana, on January 22.

On January 23, the ACP filed a missing person complaint after Lakshay failed to return home, after which an investigation was started.

Police detained 19-year-old Abhishek from Jawahar Camp in Narela, Delhi, on January 26.

He claimed during questioning that on January 22, Vikas had called and requested him to accompany him to a wedding in Sonipat.

He was informed by Vikas that Lakshay, a lawyer at Tis Hazari Court, had borrowed money from him and had mistreated him when he tried to collect it. The police said that they then planned to kill Lakshay.

On January 22, Abhishek and Vikas met in the afternoon at Mukarba Chowk and drove to Sonipat in Lakshay’s vehicle.

Abhishek reported to the police that early on January 23, after leaving the event, they drove away and pushed Lakshay into a canal close to Panipat.
