The leaders of the united Opposition will boycott the shows and programs of a list of 14 anchors, according to the Congress, which released the list today. Senior party official Pawan Khera claimed, “We do not hate these anchors, but we love the country more,” accusing them of creating a “shop of hatred” every evening.

The list, shared by several member parties of INDIA coalition, contains the names of Republic Network’s Arnab Goswami, Aaj Tak’s Sudhir Chaudhary, News18 Hindi’s Amish Devgan, TimesNow’s Navika Kumar, IndiaToday Group’s Gaurav Sawant among 14 news anchors.

“The decision taken by the INDIA alliance parties involved in the arrogant alliance to boycott and threaten journalists is highly condemnable. This reflects their oppressive and dictatorial thinking. BJP strongly condemns this poor mentality of the Alliance”, tweeted BJP National Media In-charge Anil Baluni.

“The ban on representatives of the opposition alliance from participating in TV news shows anchored by some of India’s top TV news personalities goes against the ethos of democracy. It betokens intolerance and imperils press freedom,” the statement read.

At the first meeting of INDIA Coordination Committee which was held at the house of NCP chief Sharad Pawar yesterday evening, the decision was taken to boycott a few anchors and shows.

The opposition has always accused some section of media for spreading misinformation and communal hate among the society.
