CM Mohan Charan Majhi Announces Policy For Non-Resident Odias

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi revealed plans to formulate a dedicated policy for Non-Resident Odias (NROs) on Friday. He formulated this to ensure their active participation in the state’s journey toward prosperity.

The announcement came during an interaction with the NROs on the final day of the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention in Bhubaneswar.

Special Policy For Non-Resident Odias

During the session, CM Majhi emphasized the importance of NROs in Odisha’s development and assured the delegates that the state government would soon introduce a special policy to engage with the Odia diaspora.

He further shared that a state government minister would be assigned the responsibility of addressing the problems and grievances of NROs. The appointed minister will also serve as a liaison to coordinate with the Odia diaspora, gathering ideas and feedback to contribute to the state’s growth.

The Chief Minister also announced that the Department of Language, Literature, and Culture would serve as the nodal department for implementing this initiative. This strategic move highlights the state government’s commitment to fostering stronger ties with NROs and creating a more inclusive platform for their involvement in Odisha’s progress.

CM Majhi’s Vision For Odisha’s Prosperity

In his address, CM Majhi highlighted the state’s development journey and its Vision Document 2036, sharing his vision for Odisha’s future. “Odisha has now embarked on a journey towards prosperity. You live in different countries, and many of you are successful industrialists, professionals, and technocrats. Your participation in this journey is crucial,” he said.

The Chief Minister praised the NROs for becoming a bridge between India and their host countries, promoting Indian and Odia culture abroad. He further acknowledged the significant role the diaspora plays in maintaining and protecting Odia’s identity, even while living overseas. Referring to them as the “triple engine” of Odisha’s development, he complimented the “double-engine” government that is currently in power.

CM Majhi Invites NROs In State Initiatives

CM Majhi invited the NROs to actively participate in Odisha’s key initiatives, including “Utkal Odisha” and “Make-in-Odisha,” to accelerate the state’s growth. He encouraged them to share their ideas and contribute to the vision of building a prosperous Odisha.

In addition to discussing the state’s development initiatives, the Chief Minister noted the significant improvement in Odisha’s air connectivity, thanks to the cooperation of the Central government.

He also revealed that the state is considering introducing flights to Kuwait and Qatar shortly, further strengthening ties with the global Odia community.
