Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Releases YSRCP’s Election Manifesto, Promises To Hike Welfare Pensions

With only a few weeks until the Andhra Pradesh Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy released the YSR Congress Party’s (YSRCP) election manifesto on Saturday at the Tadepalli camp office in Vijayawada.

The YSRCP leader unveiled the new manifesto as Navaratnalu Plus, by making slightly changes the promises stated in the 2019 Navaratnalu manifesto.

Jagan Mohan Reddy has pledged to lead the state from Visakhapatnam and progressively increase welfare pensions from Rs 3,000 to Rs 3,500 per month.

“Immediately after YSRCP forms the government in 2024, Visakhapatnam will be made the executive capital as the seat of the government. It will be developed as the growth engine for the state,” the Andhra CM said, adding that Amaravati will be developed as the legislative capital and Kurnool as the judicial capital.

The chief minister of Andhra Pradesh announced during the press conference that the monthly welfare pension, which is currently Rs 3,000, will increase to Rs 3,250 in January 2028 and then to Rs 3,500 in January 2029.

Reddy promised to raise the yearly financial support provided to farmers under Rythu Bharosa from current Rs 13,500 to Rs 16,000 per year.

Reddy stated that YSRCP is planning to increase the annual funding for Amma Vodi from Rs 15,000 to Rs 17,000, and that this program offers financial assistance to mothers who enrol their children in school.

A cash assistance program called Amma Vodi is available to mothers whose kids attend school.

Jagan Mohan Reddy pledged to extend for an additional five years the financial aid given to women between ages of 45 and 60 under YSR Cheyutha. Under YSR Cheyutha, the state government had awarded Rs. 18750, making total benefit in four years Rs. 75,000.

In order to increase the overall benefit to Rs. 1.2 lakh, the YSRCP supremo has also pledged to extend financial aid of Rs. 600,000 under YSR Kapu Nestham for an additional four years. Under Kapu Nestham, women will receive an annual payment of Rs. 15,000 for a period of four years.

In the 2019 elections, the YSRCP overthrew the TDP administration in Andhra Pradesh with a landslide victory, taking 151 of the 175 Assembly seats.
