In Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh security personnel killed three Naxals in an encounter on Friday, as per police reports. As per the Gariaband Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jitendra Chandrakar, the encounter is still underway.
Three Naxalites Killed In Chhattisgarh’s Sornamal Forest
Security forces killed three Naxalites on Friday during an operation in the Naxal-affected Sornamal forest of Gariaband district, Chhattisgarh. A combined team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF) surrounded the Naxalites from all sides. Approximately 300 security personnel from both Chhattisgarh and Odisha are currently involved in the ongoing operation.
Chhattisgarh Naxals’ Encounter Details
Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jitendra Chandrakar confirmed that three Naxalites were gunned down in the encounter. As per the local reports, the security forces successfully recovered the bodies of the three militants and also found weapons during the subsequent search. The team remains at the site of the encounter.
The identities of the killed Naxalites have not been confirmed yet, but authorities suspect that they may have significant rewards on their heads. The bodies will be brought to the headquarters for identification.
Earlier Incident: Two CRPF Commandos Injured
In a related incident, two commandos from the CoBRA unit of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were injured in an exchange of fire with Naxals on December 23. The clash occurred while the forces were securing a forward base in the forest area of Sukma district, Chhattisgarh.
The exchange of fire took place at around 7:30 AM at the Gomguda forward operating base (FOB) of the CRPF. Officials confirmed that the CoBRA 206 battalion was securing the newly established base when the firing began.
