Arvind Kejriwal
After the Enforcement Directorate’s remand period ends, the CBI will request custody of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the liquor policy case on Wednesday.
The AAP Chief was placed under custody by the Enforcement Directorate until March 28 after being arrested on March 21 in connection with a money laundering case involving the now-canceled liquor policy.
In the meantime, the Enforcement Directorate asked the Delhi High Court to give it more time to respond to Kejriwal’s plea challenging his detention.
This ‘bulky’ petition was delivered to the agency just on Tuesday, and S V Raju, the Additional Solicitor General defending the agency, asked for three weeks to answer.
Kejriwal was placed under remand in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate “for his detailed and sustained interrogation” on Friday by the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi. Shortly after the Delhi High Court denied him protection from coercive action, he was taken into custody.
Kejriwal was the “principal conspirator and the kingpin of the Delhi excise policy scam,” according to the investigative agency. It further asserts that he handled the proceeds of crime, demanded bribes, and participated directly in the policy’s formulation.
Kejriwal and the AAP, however, denied the accusations, claiming that there was insufficient proof to connect him to the scam
A public address given today by Delhi CM’s Wife, Sunita Kejriwal, said that he will ‘tell the truth’ of the liquor policy case in court on Thursday.
