In a series of bomb threat incidents, Lady Shri Ram College and Sri Venkateswara College of Delhi University received bomb threat calls on Thursday, prompting immediate response from fire tenders and Delhi Police, as reported by news agency ANI. This incident followed a hoax threat received by the Union Home Ministry office on Wednesday. Similar threats have previously targeted Delhi-NCR schools and hospitals.
On the same day, three hotels, including a five-star establishment in Bengaluru, Karnataka, also received bomb threats.
The sequence of threats began on April 30 with Delhi’s Chacha Nehru Hospital receiving a threat. This was followed by threats to 150 schools on May 1, issued from a Russia-based mailing service company.
On May 12, bomb threats were sent to twenty hospitals, IGI Airport, and the Northern Railways’ CPRO office in Delhi via emails from a Cyprus-based mailing service company.
Continuing this pattern, seven hospitals in Delhi and Tihar Jail received bomb threats from the same Cyprus-based mailing service company on May 14.
The threat to the Home Ministry office on Wednesday was particularly alarming, as a senior officer received an email stating that a bomb had been planted in the building and it would explode.
