BJP questioned the silence of opposition party leaders over critical remarks made by DMK members on Santana Dharma. BJP accused INDIA bloc of having a secret agenda of attacking Santan Dharma to continue their vote bank politics.
Taking a dig at opposition, BJP leader Ravi Shankar said Congress leader Sonia Gandhi keeps quiet on the issue the more it will be clearer that INDIA group has an agenda of opposing Sanatan Dharma.
Former Union Minister said at a press conference, “The BJP will urge this alliance to come out with a categorical resolution that we completely disassociate ourselves (from DMK’s criticism) and this is not our agenda.”
He further continued that the country will not tolerate “shameful denigration” of Sanatan.
The BJP leader pointed out that temples have been built in honor of revered members of lower castes like Shabir, Kewat, and the saint Ravidas in response to the DMK’s attempt to link Sanatan Dharma with the practice of caste discrimination among Hindus.
He asserted that the Sanatan Dharma holds that anyone, regardless of caste or community origin, can achieve God by their devotion.
Prasad responded by saying that while opposition leaders, including those in the DMK and some in the Rashtriya Janata Dal and Samajwadi Party, have been outspoken in their criticism of Hinduism’s Sanatan Dharma and holy texts, can they muster the courage to criticize other religions and their holy figures.
