On Saturday, Uttar Pradesh Police booked Subrat Pathak who is BJP MP for Kannauj, nine people who were his supporters and 42 other unknown people under the charges of rioting, assaulting a public servant and criminal intimidation.
After the MP and others assaulted a group of local policemen in Kannauj action was taken against him some other people in the abduction case. The FIR was lodged against the MP Subrat Pathak when the complainant Hakim Singh, who is the Sub-inspector in charge of Kannauj’s Mandi Samiti Police Post alleged him of grabbing him by his collar, pushing, abusing and beating him up. He also alleged that the supporters of BJP MP have also beaten up a group of police men including four constables and 3 sub inspectors.
However Subrat said that, “The police has misbehaved with BJP supporters”. He further added that, “When I was passing by, I was informed of a fight at Mandi Samiti police post and tried to mediate, and informed the Kannauj additional superintendent of police (Arvind Kumar). Others too arrived. A BJP worker had been framed in an abduction case despite no involvement. When the additional SP was informed about it, the worker was let off.”
When the BJP MP was asked regarding allegation of beating up a group of police men, then he alleged the SP Kunwar Anupam Singh of being close to rival political parties. When he was pointed out that currently Uttar Pradesh in under the control of BJP government he said his name was deliberately added in the FIR.
