BJP MP Sambit Patra sharply criticized AAP’s senior leaders on Monday, alleging that they are all ‘riding on the bail cart’ and will meet the same fate as Congress.
His criticism was particularly directed at AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, who is currently out on bail in connection with the liquor scam case.
Patra raised concerns about Kejriwal’s alleged extravagant lifestyle. He pointed out the Rs 6 crore curtains in his Sheesh Mahal. Additionally, he highlighted the reported Rs 45 crore renovation of Kejriwal’s house during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking at a press conference here, Patra stated, “AAP ke sare neta ‘Bail-gaadi par sawar hai’ (All AAP leaders are riding on the bail cart) and they will face the same fate as Congress did across the country. Kejriwal ji is out on bail in the liquor scam case. In his Sheesh Mahal, there are curtains worth 6 crore rupees; it’s hard for us to believe this. During COVID, Kejriwal ji was reportedly renovating his house with 45 crore rupees. There are 13 criminal cases against Kejriwal ji.”
BJP MP also targeted other AAP leaders, including Delhi CM Atishi, Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, and Satyendra Jain.
“In the Delhi liquor scam, 17 crore rupees were funnelled through a hawala channel to a news channel, whose founder is the brother-in-law of Atishi ji. With all due respect to her parents, Atishi’s parents had written a letter in 2001 to halt Afzal Guru’s execution, who was convicted for the Parliament attack. This is on record. The family holds such ideology, which supports terrorists like Afzal Guru,” Patra asserted.
Sisodia’s Money Laundering Accusations Serious, Says Patra
The BJP MP also criticized former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, accusing him of money laundering.
“Manish Sisodia has been accused of money laundering. Due to corruption and the excise policy, a money trail of 338 crore rupees was uncovered, and the Supreme Court also confirmed that the 338 crore money trail exists. Today, he is out on bail as well,” Patra noted.
He further added, “Sanjay Singh was found guilty by the Sultanpur District Court and sentenced to three months in jail along with a fine of 1000 rupees. He was involved in the excise policy scam and was arrested by the ED on 4 October 2023. Sanjay Singh too is out on bail now. There is no need to say much about Satyendra Jain. He has four shell companies through which he carried out money laundering. Even in jail, he sent messages and enjoyed snacks (pakoras).”
AAP’s Failure On Ambedkar Statue Issue Is Unacceptable: Sambit Patra
Patra then shifted focus to the AAP government in Punjab, condemning its failure to prevent the vandalism of Dr. BR Ambedkar’s statue in Amritsar. He called for Kejriwal to apologize and resign from his position in the party.
“Yesterday was the 76th anniversary of our Republic when India got its Constitution. Since morning we have seen how under the AAP govt in Punjab, Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s statue was vandalised in Amritsar. There a man climbed on top of the statue and vandalized it. When this incident was unfolding, neither the Police nor the administration took any steps to stop it. Since this happened in front of a police station, it is a law and order issue. This is not the first time that Arvind Kejriwal and AAP have insulted Dalits. Arvind Kejriwal must go to Punjab and offer apologies before this statue. He should also resign from his post in the party. BJP challenges him to do this,” added the BJP MP.
