Baijnath Singh, a BJP leader returned to congress which he left during 2020 rebellion led by Jyotiraditya Scindia. A cavalcade of 400 cars was brought from Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri to Bhopal.
The former BJP leader who holds political influence in Shivpuri left the Congress and followed Mr Scindia into saffron party which ultimaltely toppled the Kamal Nath Government and BJP was brought back to power.
According to the sources Baijnath Singh had been trying hard to get a BJP ticket, but could not get any after which he decided to rejoin Congress.
Baijnath Singh was welcomed by the senior Congress leaders Kamal Nath and Digvijaya Singh. Along with the politician, 15 district-level leaders of the BJP switched to the Congress.
A video went viral on social media in which scores of cars driving down with sirens are seen. However some users have pointed out the use of sirens as according to the law only emergency vehicles are allowed to use sirens on roads. BJP has criticised the use of sirens in cavalcade and said that this reflects Congress’s “feudal mindset”.
