21-Year-Old Breaks Guinness World Record For Solving Rubik’s Cube In 3.13 Seconds

On June 11, 2023, Max Park, a speedcubing legend and member of the Guinness World Records Hall of Fame, beat the previous record for the fastest time to solve a 3x3x3 Rubik’s cube.

The 21-year-old broke the previous record, which was set by China’s Yusheng Du in 2018, by 0.34 seconds. According to Guinness World Records, with an astonishing time of 3.13 seconds.

Max previously had a single solve time of 3.63 seconds, which put him in second place behind Yusheng Du’s 3.47.

On social media, there have been multiple videos of Max Park breaking the record, in which his fellow cube mates were seen cheering him up.

A few more speedcubing records are won by Max, in fact, he is the owner of almost all of them.

According to Guinness World Records, he now owns the single-solve and average-solve world records for the 4x4x4 cube, 5x5x5 cube, 6x6x6 cube, and 7x7x7 cube.

In addition, he and Tymon Kolasinski of Poland held the record for the 3x3x3 average, which was broken on March 12, 2023, by 9-year-old Yiheng Wang of China with a time of 4.69 seconds. Max Park has a habit of setting unachievable records.

The most amazing thing he had ever seen, according to experienced cuber Erik Akkersdijk, was his timing of 1 minute, 40 seconds to break the 7x7x7 single record. “The record will likely stand for some time,” Erik said.

He was wrong though, Max went on to smash it in 2022 with a time of 1 minute 35 seconds, according to the Guinness World Records.

Max has been diagnosed with autism, and according to his parents, Schawn and Miki, cubing has been “a terrific therapy” for him. Max once struggled to simply open water bottles, but he displayed interest in solving Rubik’s Cubes, they claimed.
