Bihar’s New NDA Government To Hold First Cabinet Meeting Today

On Monday, the newly formed Bihar NDA government will hold its first cabinet meeting. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will preside over a meeting that will begin at 11:30 a.m. in Patna, which will be attended by other ministers including Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha.

During the first cabinet meeting, a decision regarding the new advocate general nominee might be discussed. It is also anticipated that permission to call the next assembly session will be discussed.

In a severe setback to the INDIA bloc by the Opposition, Nitish Kumar dissolved the Mahagathbandhan alliance in Bihar on Sunday and reestablished contact with the BJP-led NDA. Later in the day, he took the oath of office as the Chief Minister of the Janata Dal (United)-BJP combine for a record ninth time, having earlier resigned as Chief Minister of Bihar. Later, the JD(U) declared he would stay in the alliance, referring to his return to the NDA as going “back to where I was”.

Along with Nitish Kumar and the two Deputy Chief Ministers, the new ministers include Prem Kumar of the BJP, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Shravan Kumar, and Vijendra Yadav of JD(U), Santosh Kumar Suman of Hindustan Awam Morcha (HAM), and Independent MLA Sumit Kumar Singh.

Notable Legislative Council (MLC) members are Nitish Kumar, Samrat Chaudhary, and Santosh Kumar Suman.

Reporters were informed on Sunday by Nitish Kumar that the Bihar cabinet will be enlarged in a day or two. So far, it appears that the NDA’s goal in choosing its ministers is to win over the OBC vots while retaining the support of the core upper caste constituency.
