Bihar Assembly Elections 2025: 67.14% Voters Cast Ballots Till 5 PM In Phase 2

Bihar witnessed a remarkable voter turnout of 67.14% by 5 PM on Tuesday during the second phase of the Assembly elections, according to data released by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

The strong participation reflects growing public engagement in the electoral process, surpassing earlier figures recorded throughout the day.

The voter turnout had stood at 31.38% till 11 AM, rising sharply to 47.62% by 1 PM and further to 60.40% by 3 PM, before crossing the 67% mark by evening.

The consistent increase in polling percentage demonstrates the electorate’s keen interest in shaping the state’s political direction.

Among the districts, Kishanganj led with an impressive 51.86% turnout by early afternoon, while Madhubani recorded the lowest at 43.39% around the same time.

Later in the day, several constituencies reported significant jumps in participation, with many booths witnessing long queues well into the final hours of polling.

Out of the 122 Assembly constituencies that went to the polls, Garua (constituency 225) logged the highest turnout at 55.91%, whereas Nawada (constituency 237) saw the lowest at 38.93%. Officials noted that polling remained largely peaceful, aided by enhanced security deployment and better voter management at booths.

Wide Coverage Across Districts

The second phase covered 20 districts, including East Champaran (11 seats), Madhubani and Gaya (10 each), West Champaran (9), and Sitamarhi (8). Additionally, Bhagalpur, Rohtas, Purnia, and Katihar each had seven seats, while Araria and Aurangabad saw polling across six constituencies each.

Election observers attributed the higher turnout to intensified voter awareness campaigns and improved accessibility at polling centres.

With several key constituencies witnessing close contests between the NDA and the INDIA bloc, the increased participation could play a decisive role in shaping the outcome.

The Election Commission appreciated the cooperation of voters and polling staff, reiterating that the strong turnout reflected the people’s faith in democratic values.
