PIB Dismisses Fake Claims Linking Delhi Blast To ‘False Flag’ Operation

Debunks False Flag Claims on The Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) Fact Check unit has refuted false claims circulating on social media that described the recent Delhi blast near the Red Fort as a ‘false-flag operation’.

Authorities have warned that several Pakistani propaganda accounts have become active online, attempting to spread misinformation and create confusion.

In an official post on X, PIB Fact Check stated that the claims made by certain online accounts were ‘fake and baseless’.

The bureau cautioned citizens not to forward or engage with such misleading content. It also warned that organised misinformation efforts were underway. These attempts, the bureau said, could disrupt public peace and erode trust in official investigations.

The clarification comes amid heightened tensions following Monday’s explosion near the Red Fort Metro Station, which killed at least eight people and injured several others. Authorities have since handed over the investigation into the blast to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

PIB Urges Public Vigilance

“Pakistani propaganda accounts have become active and are trying to create confusion by spreading misinformation claiming #DelhiBlast near the #RedFort was a false-flag operation #PIBFactCheck. These claims are #FAKE and Baseless. NEVER forward such a message. Stay alert, don’t let propaganda succeed,” PIB Fact Check posted.

Officials reiterated that spreading unverified content could aid propaganda efforts and undermine the ongoing investigation. Authorities have urged citizens to rely only on trusted government sources for verified updates.

The statement follows a series of advisories issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Delhi Police. These advisories warned against the circulation of fake news that could inflame communal or cross-border tensions.
