Bajrang Dal-VHP Protest Over Nuh Violence, SC Directs Government To Ensure “No Hate Speech Happens”

After the communal clashes took place in Haryana, protest over tension between two communities have reached Delhi borders, SC heard a petition seeking to stop rallies, “that are likely to fan communal fires and incite people to resort to violence” and even issued notice to the Governments of UP, Haryana and Delhi Government citing “rallies can go on but should be video graphed”.

An urgent petition was filed in SC seeking to stop protests announced by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal in Delhi-NCR after communal violence in Nuh, Haryana.

SC instructed Central Government to make sure “no hate speech happens” in rallies, additional forces can also be deployed if needed to maintain law and order in country. The next hearing will take place on August 4.

“We hope and trust that the State along with police shall ensure that there is no hate speech against any community or violence against any property. Wherever required, additional police force or paramilitary force be deployed, and wherever required authorities shall use the CCTV cameras or make video recordings in all sensitive areas wherever required. The CCTV footage shall be preserved,” the Court’s order stated.

“Given the fact that the situation in Nuh and Gurgaon continues to be extremely tense and even the slightest provocation could result in serious loss of life and damage to property, rallies that are likely to fan communal fires and incite people to resort to violence, ought to not be permitted,” the petition stated.

A protest against violence in the Mewat region is organised today by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). A Mahapanchayat has been scheduled on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Bhisam Das Mandir in Manesar by the VHP and Bajrang Dal. On Wednesday, the right-wing group will also organise a “major demonstration” in Noida.
