Accused AAP MLA Prakash Jarwal Gets Additional Time To File Affidavit, Convicted in Doctor’s Suicide Case

Rouse Avenue Court has given additional time to AAP MLA Prakash Jarwal to file an affidavit regarding his properties and income. The court has asked to file an affidavit on May 18 in the case of doctor’s suicide in Delhi. During the hearing of the case, the lawyer appearing for Prakash Jarwal said that the affidavit has not been prepared yet, hence he requested for a few more days additional days.

After which the court has given time till May 18. In the last hearing, Prakash Jarwal’s lawyer had asked for one month’s time from the court. Rouse Avenue Court had convicted Aam Aadmi Party MLA Prakash Jarwal and Kapil Nagar under sections 306, 34, 120B, 386, 506 and 511 of the Indian Penal Code. The court had convicted the third accused Harish Kumar Jarwal under section 506 of the Indian Penal Code.

In this case, the court acquitted Harish Jarwal of charges under sections 306 and 386, while ordering charges under section 506 to be framed. On August 28, 2021, Delhi Police had filed a supplementary charge sheet against three accused including Prakash Jarwal. Apart from Prakash Jarwal, Kapil Nagar and Harish Kumar Jarwal were declared accused in this case.

Dr. Rajendra Bhati committed suicide by hanging himself in his house on 18 April 2020. Prakash Jarwal was accused of provoking him for committing suicide. After which the court declared him guilty in this case. The court had framed charges against the Aam Aadmi Party MLA in November 2021 in the case of doctor’s suicide.

Police had found a suicide note of deceased doctor Rajendra Bhati. The name of Aam Aadmi Party’s Deoli MLA Prakash Jarwal was in this suicide note. In his suicide note, the deceased doctor had accused Aam Aadmi Party leader Prakash Jarwal and his associate of continuously threatening him. The police had registered a case of extortion and abetment of suicide against the AAP leader and some of his associates.
