2 Karnataka Couples Name Newborns After Pragyaan Rover-Vikram Lander! Know Their Story

Chandrayaan-3’s successful landing was an ultimate proud moment for each and every citizen of the country. Achieving this feat, now India is the first country to land in the south pole region of the moon. The world congratulated India on reaching the milestone it has been aiming for a long time. It would not be an understatement if said that the day of soft landing, i.e. 23 August was celebrated as a festival. PM Modi visited ISRO to share and celebrate the special occasion with the scientists whose enduring efforts made this dream come true. However, every individual in India celebrated this proud moment in their own way.

Two couples from Wadagera town of Yadgir district, Karnataka has named their newborn after Pragyaan rover and Vikram lander carried by Chandrayaan-3.

Two baby boys were born in the same family a few days before the soft landing on the lunar surface. Balappa and Nagamma’s baby boy was born on July 28 and he was named Vikram, whereas Ningappa and Shivamma’s baby was born on August 14 and was named Pragyan. On August 24, a day after landing on lunar surface the naming ceremony of the newborns was conducted.

The story doesn’t end here, many other parents from Kendrapara district of Odisha have named their kids after the lunar mission as per a report from India Today.

Father of one of the babies Pravat Mallick said, “It was a double delight. Our baby was born a few minutes after the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon. We have decided to name the child after the lunar mission,”
