2 ED officials caught accepting 15 lakh bribe, arrested

For allegedly accepting bribes in Rajasthan, two Enforcement Directorate officers have been placed under arrest. The two officers allegedly demanded ₹ 15 lakh in order to stop the filing of a chit fund case.

According to a statement from the Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), the two ED officers were caught red-handed while accepting the money.

“A team of the ACB caught the two ED inspectors accepting ₹ 15 lakh. The ACB is searching the premises of the ED inspectors,” the anti-corruption body in the Congress-ruled state said.

Vaibhav, the son of Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, was interrogated by the ED for nine hours on October 30 in connection with a suspected violation of foreign exchange regulations.

The Gehlot administration denounced the ED action as a political vendetta just one month before the assembly election, which was set for November 25.

The Modi government is allegedly abusing central agencies to target opposition parties and leaders in the run-up to the national election in 2024. One such leader is Delhi Chief Minister Arvind, who is being questioned by the ED in connection with the liquor policy case involving the national capital.
