Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi behind firing at Salman Khan's residence
Two individuals captured on CCTV firing gunshots outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai on Sunday are suspected to hail from Haryana’s Gurugram and are believed to be associated with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, according to police sources. One of the suspects, identified as Vishal, is allegedly linked to notorious gang member Rohit Godara, known for his involvement in violent crimes, including the March murder of Gurugram-based businessman Sachin Munjal, as per police sources. Godara, currently abroad, reportedly confessed to Munjal’s killing via social media.
CCTV footage revealed both suspects wearing caps and carrying backpacks while firing towards Khan’s residence. One wore a white t-shirt with a black jacket and denim pants, while the other wore a red t-shirt with denim pants. Before the attack, they conducted reconnaissance near Galaxy Apartments, Khan’s residence. After abandoning their motorcycle, possibly stolen, near Mount Mary Church in Bandra, they evaded capture by taking a rickshaw to Bandra railway station, fleeing the city, police said. Their motorcycle was recovered over a kilometre from Khan’s home.
Following the incident, Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother, Anmol Bishnoi, claimed responsibility online, calling it a “preview” and issuing a warning to the actor. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde reached out to Khan, offering unwavering support and commitment to upholding the rule of law.
Last year, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) stated Khan topped a list of 10 targets Lawrence Bishnoi planned to eliminate, citing the actor’s 1998 black buck hunting incident, which offended the Bishnoi community. Bishnoi revealed his henchman, Sampat Nehra, surveilled Khan’s Bandra residence for a potential hit but was arrested by Haryana Police.
Mumbai Police elevated Khan’s security to Y+ following a threat call last April. An Indian student in the UK was subject to a lookout circular for allegedly sending a threatening email to Khan.
