“Chrisann Is TRAPPED!” Sadak 2 Actress Jailed In Sharjah In Drug Case; Kin Appeals To PM Modi, MEA For Intervention

Mumbai’s Crime Branch arrested two people on Monday on charges of planting drugs on actor Chrisann P, which led to her arrest in UAE’s Sharjah over three weeks back. The actress was found carrying drugs hidden in an award trophy.

Days after Chrisann, who was part of movies like Sadak 2 and Batla House, her family devastated family said that their 27 years-old daughter, jailed since April 1, is innocent and sought an early release from the UAE prison after her bail plea was rejected on Monday (April 24).

An appeal to PM Modi, MEA

Speaking to the news agency IANS, her mother Premila Pereira said, “We are appealing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister for External Affairs for their intervention in the matter to secure the release of our daughter… After the Mumbai Police investigation, it is clear that she was framed in the whole thing.”

She also said that they are completing the legal formalities to approach the Sharjah authorities and will also send an appeal to the PM and MEA for help to secure the release of their innocent daughter.

During the investigation of the drug case, the Mumbai Police Crime Branch, which is probing the case, has nabbed the prime accused Anthony Paul, 35, a bakery owner of Borivali and his associate, a banker Rajesh Bubhate, 34, alias Ravi.

Moreover, the accused have also confessed to handing three persons the award trophies with drugs concealed in them and two others with drugs-laced cakes before they flew to Dubai, ostensibly as a vendetta against the Pereira family.

Chrisann got trapped!

Whilst two among them, including the Sadak actress, Chrisann, inadvertently walked into the trap, three others managed to evade the authorities in Sharjah.

The accused had identified himself as a talent consultant and had approached Premila Pereira in March-end, to lure Chrisann with an audition for a role in an international web series in Sharjah.

The accused has also persuaded the actress to carry the trophy in which he had hidden the drugs to be handed over to a close aide in Sharjah who would give details of her hotel booking.

After reaching Sharjah, Chrisann found that nobody come to receive her at the airport, however, the local police landed detected the drugs in the trophy. Finally, she ended up being behind bars and later, at the Sharjah Central Prison on April 1.

Personal grudges

The prime accused and the mastermind of the whole drug case, apparently nursed an old grudge against the Pereira family, especially with her mother Premila (the mother), and even got into fisticuffs with her son Kevin.

Police have found that Paul had used the same modus operandi with some other wannabe actors, assuring them of plum roles in global web series, though one person declined to carry the trophy, which Chrisann later agreed to take with her.

The investigation also revealed that the Mumbai Police does not suspect a drug syndicate involvement but only Paul’s “revenge tactics” against all the victims with whom he had some or other problems. However, the police are investigating from various angles.
