It published multiple photos of the Russian aircraft mid-flight. Two Sukhoi Su-27 fighter planes and one Ilyushin ll-20 plane were identified by the German and British forces.
Russian military aircraft regularly fly from Russia’s mainland to Kaliningrad and return, implying that such encounters are rather common in the region.
Germany handed over responsibility for NATO’s Baltic air policing mission to the United Kingdom earlier this month.
