Sensex And Nifty Surge About 1% Amid Global Markets Rally

In Asian markets, Singapore, Tokyo, South Korea, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Taiwan all ended with gains

Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty rose about 1 percent on Thursday, boosted by buying in HAL and Power Finance Corp, as well as a rally in the global markets.

In an extremely turbulent session, the 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 676.69 points or 0.93 percent to 73,663.72. During the day, it peaked at 73,749.47 and dropped to 72,529.97.

The NSE Nifty climbed about 1 percent (0.92 percent) or 203.30 points to 22,403.85.

HAL, Power Finance Corp, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Consumer, ABB India, Bharti Airtel, Tech Mahindra, LTIMindtree, Cholamandalm Invest, Infosys, and RECL were the top gainers.

Among the laggards were Canara Bank, GAIL (India), Maruti Suzuki, LIC, Tata Motors-DVR, Info Edge(India), Tata Motors, Bajaj Holdings, and Adani Total Gas.

In Asian markets, Singapore, Tokyo, South Korea, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Taiwan all ended with gains.

US markets concluded higher on Wednesday.

European stocks were trading lower.

Brent crude lost 0.33 percent to USD 82.45 per barrel.

According to exchange data, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold equities worth Rs 2,832.83 crore on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, the Sensex dipped 117.58 points or 0.16 percent to 72,987.03, while the Nifty dropped 17.30 points or 0.08 percent to 22,200.55.
