Gautam Adani In Kolkata: Big West Bengal Investments, 2,000-Bed Hospital On Agenda

Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani will meet West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari in Kolkata on Thursday to discuss investment and industrial projects in the state.

Gautam Adani arrived in the city on Wednesday night and visited the Kalighat Temple on Thursday morning to offer prayers.

Later in the day, Gautam Adani will attend the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the proposed Adani Arogya Mandir, a 2,000-bed hospital in New Town.

CM Adhikari will attend the ceremony, marking the launch of the Adani Group’s major healthcare project in West Bengal.

Gautam Adani and CM Adhikari will discuss the group’s proposed investments and plans to expand its presence in the state.

The Adani Group Chairman will further meet senior state government officials to discuss investment proposals.

The hospital forms part of the Adani Group’s wider investment plans in West Bengal.

The group is, however, involved in plans to renovate Writers’ Buildings and redevelop Kumartuli Ghat.

The Adani Group plans a 2,000-bed integrated hospital in New Town, with 1,000 beds reserved for free treatment of economically weaker patients and the rest for commercial services.

The West Bengal government is, however,  seeking major investments to boost employment and industrial development.

CM Adhikari has held talks with several business leaders as part of the effort.

The Adani Group will participate in Kolkata’s upcoming Durga Puja celebrations. It, however, plans to select eight community pujas and provide ₹25 lakh to each.

The group will organise a three-day Puja Preview Tour from October 10-12 for prominent personalities from India and abroad to showcase the festival’s art and traditions.

Gautam Adani’s Kolkata visit comes as the group advances several proposed projects in West Bengal, with healthcare, heritage restoration and urban redevelopment forming part of its planned activities in the state.
