Landslides at Himachal Pradesh
At least 51 people were rescued by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel from the cloudburst occurrence sites at the villages of Shehnu Gouni and Kholanal in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district.

Heavy rainfall, landslides, and cloudbursts reported from several sections of the Himalayan state have caused extensive damage and fatalities.

Several homes also fell after a significant landslip devastated the Kullu area of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday, August 24. According to officials, 9,924 homes have suffered partial damage, and 2,237 households have sustained full damage. They said that 4783 cow barns and 300 stores had suffered damage.

With the use of Air Force aircraft, the Mandi District Administration transported a shipment of food supplies and medications to the district’s outlying territories.
Jairam Thakur reacts to the current situation
On Thursday, former Himachal Pradesh chief minister Jairam Thakur visited Kuklah in the Mandi district, which was devastated by a landslip, and he requested current state chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to provide food for the locals.

“I have visited my constituency keeping in mind the significant loss caused by the state’s heavy rainfall. Today a two-story school building fell, and due to fissures practically all homes are now insecure. Six people’s lives had been lost in one day, according to the former HP CM.

What the CM has to say?
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu said on Thursday that the administration was offering all possible assistance to the over 800 travellers who were stuck as a result of the closure of the Chandigarh-Manali national route.
As a result of heavy rains and landslides that blocked roads, they were hit between the towns of Mandi and Kullu. Until then, the district administrations have been instructed to make suitable arrangements for their board and lodging at no additional cost, according to Chief Minister Sukhu. The government is working to rebuild the roads and bring about normalcy cost.
