Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said government recruitment would continue beyond the target of one lakh additional appointments, adding that more appointment letters would be distributed during a possible third term.
Addressing a programme at the Reserve Police Lines in Lucknow, where 4,543 newly selected police sub-inspectors received appointment letters, he said his government had completed around 9.5 lakh recruitments and was nearing its target of another one lakh jobs.
Interacting with the recruits, CM Yogi asked whether anyone had sought political recommendations, demanded money or offered bribes to influence their selection. He asserted that the state had established a transparent, merit-based recruitment system.
The Chief Minister said Uttar Pradesh had transformed its recruitment process since 2017, ending favouritism, discrimination and corruption.
Targeting previous governments, he alleged that recruitment between 2003 and 2017 witnessed widespread irregularities, depriving deserving candidates of opportunities. He cited cases in which one person submitted an application while another received the appointment letter.
CM Yogi said several disputed recruitment cases remained pending in courts and expressed concern that adverse verdicts could affect candidates appointed through those processes. He also called for action against those responsible for manipulating selections.
CM Yogi alleged that the so-called Saifai syndicate had restricted employment opportunities before 2017.
Recalling the situation when his government took office, he said salary payments and police infrastructure faced serious challenges. He added that his administration had since improved the system.
The Chief Minister also said recruitment for 25,000 teachers would move forward.
Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna congratulated the recruits, saying they had secured their positions through merit and hard work.
