When Virat Kohli steps out at Trinidad’s Queen’s Park Oval for the second India versus West Indies Test, another incredible record will be added to his resum. The former captain of India will compete in his 500th match for his country, joining the likes of famous MS Dhoni, iconic Sachin Tendulkar, and current head coach Rahul Dravid on an elite list of Indian batters.

Only four batters have played 500 or more international games for India, and Kohli will join them. With an astounding 664 appearances since his 1989 debut, Sachin tops the list. Dhoni comes in second with 538 games played, followed by Dravid (509).

BCCI shares on Virat Kohli:

The BCCI posted a special homage to the former Indian skipper on Twitter on Wednesday morning before reaching the milestone. In a letter congratulating Kohli on his accomplishment, the Indian Cricket Board wrote:

“500 things to love about the journey! I’m happy for Virat Kohli as he plays in his 500th international game for #TeamIndia.

The star Indian batter, meanwhile, received nothing but acclaim from the game’s specialists. Virat Kohli received praise from the Jio Cinema commentary team, which also included Aakash Chopra, Pragyan Ojha, and Wasim Jaffer.
