Chhattisgarh Declared Naxal-Free, Amit Shah Predicts Top Three Tourism Ranking

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday declared Chhattisgarh Naxal-free and predicted that it would rank among India’s top three tourism states in the coming years.

Addressing the closing ceremony of Chhattisgarh Rajyotsav in Naya Raipur, Shah highlighted the state’s tourism attractions, including Gariaband, Balameshwari Temple, Danteshwari Temple in Dantewada and the distinctive Bastar Dussehra celebrations.

Shah recalled the earlier perception that Chhattisgarh possessed rich resources but its people remained poor. He said the state would achieve prosperity for both its land and people within the next decade.

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership aimed to build a prosperous state where residents enjoyed happiness and economic well-being.

Shah noted that the BJP had governed Chhattisgarh for 20 of the 26 years since its formation. During this period, he said, the state’s annual budget had increased 30-fold, Gross State Product had grown 25 times and per capita income had risen significantly.

He added that the number of ITIs, colleges, polytechnics and universities had tripled.

The Home Minister said BJP rule had helped Chhattisgarh move from fear to trust and from resource-richness towards prosperity.

He praised the large gathering despite heavy rain and thanked Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai for ensuring public participation. Shah also greeted residents on Chhattisgarh Foundation Day and paid tribute to ‘Chhattisgarh Mahtari’.

Shah said former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had created Chhattisgarh, while PM Modi had nurtured it.

He praised initiatives such as Bastar Pandum and Bastar Olympics for reviving folk traditions. Earlier, Shah inaugurated Viksit Bharat Sankalp Park in Naya Raipur. The ceremony also honoured distinguished individuals with state awards.
