PM Modi Pays Tribute To Maharishi Valmiki, Says Ramayan Continues To Guide Society

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised the timeless teachings of Maharishi Valmiki, highlighting the values of service, compassion and social harmony reflected in the Ramayan.

Addressing the 139th episode of his monthly radio programme, Mann Ki Baat, he urged people to draw inspiration from the ancient epic ahead of the sage’s birth anniversary on October 26.

PM Modi said the Ramayan, composed thousands of years ago, continued to offer fresh insights and valuable lessons. He noted that Maharishi Valmiki emphasised persistent effort alongside service, compassion and harmony within society.

The Prime Minister highlighted how Bhagwan Ram embodied these ideals in the Valmiki Ramayan. He cited Ram’s acceptance of Mata Shabari’s devotion and his friendship with Nishadraj as examples of respect, inclusiveness and the spirit of taking everyone along.

PM Modi said these values remained relevant today and continued to guide society. He also pointed to their reflection in the grand Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, which houses shrines dedicated to Maharishi Valmiki, Nishadraj and Mata Shabari.

The Prime Minister also expressed happiness that Ayodhya’s airport bears Maharishi Valmiki’s name. He said such initiatives strengthen India’s cultural traditions, which place great importance on service, compassion and social harmony.

Ahead of Maharishi Valmiki’s birth anniversary, PM Modi highlighted the Ramayan’s enduring influence on Indian culture.

He also extended Diwali and Chhath Puja greetings, urging people to celebrate safely with family and share their joy with others.
