Adani Defence & Aerospace announced on Saturday that it had received the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) Champion Award 2026 in the Export Performance in Defence and Aerospace category during the organisation’s eighth annual session in New Delhi.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh presented the accolade, with Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Director General (Acquisition) A Anbarasu attending the event.
Organisers presented 15 awards to recognise contributions to technological advancement, product innovation, design, import substitution, manufacturing standards and exports.
The company operates an ammunition manufacturing complex in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, with an annual capacity of 300 million rounds. The facility produces NATO-standard ammunition and contributes to the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat drive.
During the session, Rajnath Singh urged private companies to play a greater role in defence production.
He also stressed the need for higher research and development spending and increased manufacturing capacity to fulfil India’s defence requirements.
“We are proud to see our efforts in building India’s defence manufacturing capabilities recognised. Our focus is on making high-quality products in India and taking them to customers across global markets,” said Ashish Rajvanshi, CEO of Adani Defence & Aerospace.
Rajvanshi said the company would sustain its investments in technology and domestic manufacturing to respond to changing demands from defence and security customers.
Digital Systems Support Manufacturing Excellence
The latest award follows the SIDM Champion Award presented to the Kanpur Ammunition Complex in 2025 for its performance in design, production and testing.
The company said the complex integrates automated production, artificial intelligence-based quality checks, real-time data analysis and digital monitoring.
Its digital shopfloor removes the need for manual handling of hazardous materials, while digital security systems support traceability throughout the manufacturing chain.
The facility also operates a ballistics testing range fitted with an Electronic Pressure, Velocity and Action Time system. The National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories has accredited the range.
India’s defence exports climbed to a record ₹38,424 crore in the 2025–26 financial year, registering growth of 62.66 per cent over the previous year. The government has set a target of ₹50,000 crore in annual defence exports by 2029.
