US President Donald Trump has announced a proposed diesel supply agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He said the arrangement would increase fuel supplies and sharply reduce prices.
Trump said on Friday that he had concluded a ‘highly successful discussion’ with Putin. Russia would begin deliveries immediately, with further shipments planned for November and subsequent months.

Writing on Truth Social, Trump said Russia had agreed to supply more than 300,000 tonnes of diesel to US and international markets immediately. Another 500,000 tonnes would arrive in November, followed by one million tonnes shortly afterwards.
Russia would then deliver another three million tonnes, depending on the condition of its refining facilities. The proposed shipments total more than 4.8 million tonnes.
Trump linked the agreement to what he described as American “TOTAL CONTROL” of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for international energy shipments. He predicted that diesel prices in the United States and worldwide would fall rapidly.
“Between our TOTAL CONTROL of the Strait of Hormuz, and this great announcement on Russian Energy, Diesel Prices for Americans and, indeed, the World, will be COMING DOWN, IN RECORD NUMBERS, AND FAST!” he wrote.
The President identified lower fuel costs as a priority, particularly for farmers, ranchers and truckers who depend heavily on diesel.
“Lower prices for Americans, especially our Great Farmers, Ranchers, and Truckers, is my Greatest Priority,” he said. Trump described the proposed arrangement as a “very big and important announcement”.
He declared, “Additionally, it must be understood that Iran will not have a Nuclear Weapon!”
Trump did not clarify whether Iran’s nuclear programme featured in his conversation with Putin. He provided no details of any separate understanding concerning Tehran.
