Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday outlined India’s expanding footprint in artificial intelligence following his meeting with Sundar Pichai.
The interaction took place on the margins of the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi.
In a message posted on X, the Prime Minister described the exchange as productive and engaging.

He stated that both sides examined India’s accelerating advancements in AI. They also explored avenues for collaboration between the Government of India and Google.
Prime Minister Modi emphasised the strategic importance of India’s youthful demographic dividend.
He stressed that skilled students and technology professionals remain central to the nation’s AI ambitions.
Strengthening AI Talent Partnerships
Pm Modi noted that global technology firms can partner with Indian talent to drive innovation at scale.
“It was a delight to meet Sundar Pichai on the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit in Delhi,” the Prime Minister stated.
He added that discussions centred on India’s ongoing AI initiatives and Google’s potential role in supporting capable students and professionals in this rapidly evolving sector.
The Prime Minister’s Office subsequently released highlights of the meeting through its official YouTube platform, offering insights into the deliberations.
The India AI Impact Summit 2026 is underway at Bharat Mandapam from February 16 to 20.
The forum has convened policymakers, corporate leaders, scholars, innovators, and civil society representatives from across the globe.
It seeks to strengthen international cooperation in artificial intelligence governance and development.
This gathering marks the first major global AI summit hosted in the Global South. The conference reflects India’s civilisational ethos of ‘Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya’ and aligns with the universal doctrine of ‘AI for Humanity’.
More than 110 nations and 30 international organisations are participating. Approximately 20 Heads of State or Government and nearly 45 ministers are in attendance.
The substantial global representation underscores mounting international commitment to the responsible evolution and deployment of artificial intelligence, with India positioning itself at the forefront of these deliberations.
