Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma visited the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain on Sunday to seek blessings after Team India’s historic ICC Women’s World Cup win.
She also attended the sacred Bhasma Aarti early in the morning.
During the World Cup, Team India visited the same temple after facing back-to-back defeats.
The players participated in the morning Aarti and prayed at the Nandi Hall, seeking strength and guidance.
The Bhasma Aarti at Mahakaleshwar holds immense spiritual significance.
Devotees consider it one of the most sacred rituals, performed before sunrise using sacred ash.
The ceremony is believed to allow worshippers to witness Lord Mahakal’s divine form in its purest state.
Deepti’s visit came just days after India defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the World Cup final.
The victory marked India’s maiden ICC Women’s World Cup title. Deepti took 22 wickets, the highest in the tournament, and earned the Player of the Tournament title for her key role in the victory.
Speaking after the win, Deepti expressed her joy and gratitude. “Honestly, this feels like a dream. We are still processing the emotion. I’m happy I could contribute to the final. As a team, we worked hard and believed in each other. Thanks to everyone who supported us, this would not have been possible without them,” she said.
She reflected on her journey as an all-rounder and her ability to adapt to different match situations. “I always enjoy every role, whether it’s batting, bowling, or fielding. Performing on such a big stage feels incredible. The game has changed a lot since 2017. I hope we get more matches going forward. I dedicate this trophy to my mom and dad,” she added.
Deepti’s stellar performance, including her 58-run knock and a decisive 5-39 spell in the final, earned her a place in the ICC’s Team of the Tournament.
Her calm composure and consistency throughout the event have made her one of India’s most dependable all-rounders.
