Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday predicted a decisive victory for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar following the first phase of polling, claiming that the opposition RJD and Congress have been virtually wiped out.
Addressing a rally in Jamui district, Shah urged voters to ensure that all four seats in the area go to the NDA.
“The first phase of voting has shown that Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rahul Gandhi’s party are struggling to even open an account here. Voters must remain steadfast and support the NDA,” he said.
Shah recalled that Maoists had plagued Jamui and the surrounding districts, hijacking the Dhanbad–Patna Express and killing passengers.
He asserted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Bihar has been freed from Naxalism. Authorities have extended polling hours in previously high-risk areas, and security forces have made villages like Chormara on the Munger–Jamui border Naxal-free after 25 years.
Ending ‘Jungle Raj’ and Boosting Development
The Home Minister condemned the lawlessness during the Lalu–Rabri regime, citing extortion, kidnappings for ransom, caste massacres, and the closure of businesses that pushed the state into poverty. “Nitish Kumar ended the jungle raj. In the last decade, Prime Minister Modi has driven development across Bihar, from roads and bridges to power projects, sugarcane, ethanol, and fertiliser units. The next five years are crucial to making Bihar developed,” he added.
Shah also highlighted the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, claiming that successive governments, including the Mughal, British, Congress, and Lalu Prasad Yadav’s administrations, obstructed its construction. He noted that after PM Modi’s return in 2019, the groundbreaking ceremony took place, culminating in the temple’s consecration in 2024.
The Union Minister further announced that the NDA will build a Mother Sita temple in Sitamarhi’s Punoura Dham at an estimated cost of Rs 850 crore, aiming to complete it in two years, despite opposition from the RJD and Congress.
“No matter the opposition, we will build a grand temple of Mother Sita,” Shah declared.
