Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has been crowned the 2024-25 Men’s PFA Players’ Player of the Year, becoming the first footballer to win the prestigious award three times.
The 33-year-old Egyptian, previously honoured in 2017-18 and 2021-22, outshone a six-man shortlist that included teammate Alexis Mac Allister.
Salah’s triumph marks the 10th occasion a Liverpool player has received the honour, joining club legends such as Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush, John Barnes, Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez and Virgil van Dijk.
The recognition follows an extraordinary campaign where Salah amassed 34 goals and 23 assists in 52 appearances across all competitions.
Remarkably, 47 of those goal contributions came in the Premier League, equalling the competition’s all-time record. His exploits also earned him both the Golden Boot and the Playmaker Award, underlining his status as one of the finest forwards of his generation.
Liverpool’s dominance in the Team of the Year
Alongside Salah, four other Liverpool players featured in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year: Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Milos Kerkez.
Arne Slot’s squad clinched the Premier League title in his debut season as head coach, securing first place with four matches to spare and finishing on 84 points. The success delivered Liverpool a record-equalling 20th English top-flight crown.
Summer recruit Milos Kerkez, who impressed during his spell at AFC Bournemouth with five assists and two goals in 38 league starts, also claimed a spot in the annual XI.
The FWA and the Premier League already named Salah the Footballer of the Year and the Player of the Season for 2024-25, adding to his growing collection of awards. His consistency, longevity and impact on both domestic and European stages continue to set him apart.
The PFA Team of the Year also included Matz Sels, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Declan Rice, Alexander Isak and Chris Wood, reflecting a blend of experience and emerging talent across the league.
With this historic third PFA award, Salah has not only strengthened his personal legacy but also reaffirmed Liverpool’s dominance in English football under Arne Slot’s leadership. As the Reds prepare for another campaign, their talismanic forward will once again be central to their ambitions.
