During the 126th episode of his monthly radio programme, ‘Mann Ki Baat’, PM Modi remembered Bhagat Singh as a ‘source of inspiration’ for every Indian, especially the youth.
He praised Bhagat Singh’s courage and fearlessness.
“Before he was hanged for the nation, Bhagat Singh wrote to the Britishers, requesting that he and his friends be treated as prisoners of war and executed by shooting rather than hanging. This demonstrates his indomitable courage,” PM Modi said.
He also highlighted Bhagat Singh’s compassion for people’s sufferings and his willingness to act for their welfare. “I respectfully pay tribute to Shaheed Bhagat Singh,” he added.
