Arhan Bagati’s Work In Kashmir Earns International Recognition In Dubai

Arhan Bagati, founder of KYARI and Kashmiri youth leader, won the ET Indo Global Leaders Award for Social Impact.

Arhan Bagati, founder of KYARI (Kashmir’s Yumberzal Applied Research Institute) and a Kashmiri youth leader, has received the ET Indo Global Leaders Award for Excellence in Social Impact.

The award, presented by actor and philanthropist Kunal Kapoor at Dubai’s Al Habtoor Palace, recognised his efforts in driving social impact in Kashmir through innovation and grassroots initiatives.

Bagati is currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Policy at Harvard University. He has led a wide range of community-focused projects in Jammu & Kashmir, tackling issues such as youth drug abuse, tribal welfare, eco-tourism, and women-led entrepreneurship.

Championing Accessibility and Inclusion

As the Awareness and Impact Ambassador for the Paralympic Committee of India, Bagati has played a key role in promoting accessibility for athletes with disabilities. He helped develop digital tools like LetsEnable.com and actively supported the Paris 2024 Paralympics.

His consistent advocacy reflects his vision of inclusive national development.

Bagati has also worked to revive cinematic interest in Kashmir, encouraging film producers to shoot in the Valley. This move aims to boost local tourism and support the cultural economy.

Global Education, Local Action

Bagati’s academic journey spans Pomona College, the University of Cambridge, and Harvard University. However, his mission remains rooted in the Valley.

Through KYARI, he blends policy expertise with ground-level implementation, making the institute a respected hub for change.

Accepting the award, Bagati said, “This recognition isn’t just mine – it belongs to everyone striving to make Kashmir a beacon of hope, inclusion, and innovation. It renews my commitment to use policy and purpose to shape a more empowered tomorrow.”

The ET Indo Global Leaders Awards, a Times of India initiative, honours exceptional individuals driving positive change in their communities.

Bagati’s award marks a proud moment for Jammu & Kashmir. It highlights the power of youth-led initiatives to create lasting social impact in Kashmir.
