India’s all-party parliamentary delegation, headed by Shiv Sena MP Dr Shrikant Eknath Shinde, concluded a successful three-day official visit to Liberia on 2 June.
The visit was a key part of India’s diplomatic campaign to rally global support against terrorism following the recent attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
The delegation engaged in high-level discussions with Liberian President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Speaker of the House of Representatives, the President Pro-Tempore of the Senate, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The leaders reaffirmed their mutual commitment to counter-terrorism, democratic values, and international cooperation.
Liberia expressed strong support for India’s counter-terrorism operations, including ‘Operation Sindoor’, and conveyed its condolences to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the loss of lives in the recent terror attack.

In response, the Indian side welcomed Liberia’s upcoming non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council (2026–27), highlighting its potential to advance global action against terror.
A Historic Address To The Liberian Senate
Dr Shinde made history as the first Indian parliamentarian to address the Liberian Senate.
In his speech, he underscored India’s firm stand against cross-border terrorism and called for unified international efforts to dismantle global terror networks.

His address was hailed as a powerful gesture of democratic solidarity.
The delegation also met with Liberian lawmakers, local think tanks, and media representatives.
Discussions revolved around strengthening democratic cooperation, promoting peace, and enhancing bilateral development.
MPs Bansuri Swaraj, Atul Garg, Manan Kumar Mishra, Sasmit Patra, ET Mohammed Basheer, SS Ahluwalia, and former Ambassador Sujan Chinoy participated actively in these engagements.
In a statement, the Indian Embassy in Monrovia said, “The visit carried a resolute message of zero tolerance for terrorism in all its forms and highlighted the enduring friendship between India and Liberia.”
Both countries concluded the visit by pledging to build a peaceful and secure future through collaborative action.
The visit to Liberia marks another key chapter in India’s global diplomatic outreach and highlights the country’s commitment to building international consensus against terrorism.
With Liberia joining the UNSC in 2026, India sees a strong ally in its mission for a terror-free world.
