External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar met Netherlands Prime Minister Dick Schoof on Tuesday in The Hague. He thanked the Dutch PM for condemning the 22 April terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 civilians.
The two leaders also discussed ways to boost bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
After the meeting, Jaishankar wrote on X, “Delighted to call on PM Dick Schoof today in The Hague. Conveyed the warm greetings of PM Narendra Modi and thanked him for the Netherlands’ firm and resolute stance against terrorism. Appreciate his commitment to taking the India-Netherlands partnership to newer heights. Assured that our teams will work hard to achieve these goals.”
Jaishankar is on a six-day official tour to the Netherlands, Denmark, and Germany from 19 to 24 May. His meeting with Schoof is a major engagement in the Netherlands leg of the visit.
PM Schoof also shared a post on X. “Good to receive the Indian Minister of Foreign Affairs S. Jaishankar at the Catshuis. First of all, I expressed my support for India’s fight against terrorism after the terrible attack last month in Pahalgam. It is good for all parties that the violence between India and Pakistan has not escalated further.”

Focus on Strategic Partnership
PM Schoof added, “We discussed the Strategic Partnership. This concerns long-term cooperation between the Netherlands and India in areas such as trade, innovative technology, agriculture, and security. In a changing world, it is important for both the Netherlands and India that we can continue to count on each other. I look forward to welcoming Prime Minister Modi to our country soon to discuss this further.”
Jaishankar also met the Indian diaspora in The Hague. He praised their role in strengthening ties between the two countries.
He held talks with Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans to discuss security concerns and the scope for a defence partnership.
On Monday, Jaishankar met Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp. They discussed closer cooperation and EU ties.
The ministers also exchanged views on global issues in a multipolar world.
Jaishankar later engaged with strategic thinkers in The Hague. They explored future paths for the India-Netherlands partnership in geopolitical, economic, and defence areas.
