On 13 May 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting in New Delhi to assess the ongoing progress of the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (TB Free India Campaign), which aims to eliminate tuberculosis from the country.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Chaired a meeting on India’s mission to eliminate TB. Driven by active public participation, the movement has gained significant momentum over the last few years. Our Government remains committed to working closely with all stakeholders to realise the vision of a TB-free India.”

Union Health Minister JP Nadda and senior officials from the Health Ministry and other departments attended the session.
Emphasis On Inter-Ministerial Collaboration
During the review, Prime Minister Modi underlined the importance of strong cooperation between the Health Ministry and other government departments.
PM Modi stressed the need for a holistic, multi-sectoral approach to speed up efforts toward eliminating TB.
A key highlight of the meeting was the introduction of a 100-day action plan, intended to give a renewed push to TB eradication efforts across the country.

The plan covers 347 districts across 33 states and union territories, making it one of the most comprehensive drives undertaken under the campaign so far.
Focus On Diagnosis, Treatment And Prevention
Officials presented the current status of the TB elimination programme, discussing achievements, ongoing challenges, and the way forward.
Prime Minister Modi emphasised that authorities must strengthen TB diagnosis, treatment, and prevention services without leaving any effort undone.
The government confirmed it is actively implementing measures to close gaps in TB care delivery, particularly in high-burden districts.
Officials also committed to intensifying efforts on early detection, boosting community awareness, providing nutritional support, and ensuring strict adherence to treatment protocols.
India’s Commitment To A TB-Free Future
With this renewed push, the Government of India reaffirmed its commitment to the global goal of eliminating TB, aiming to achieve this target well before the global deadline of 2030.
Prime Minister Modi reiterated that eliminating TB is not just a health mission, but a national priority tied to India’s overall development and public welfare objectives.
