Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, will begin a two-day visit to Gujarat on April 15. He will launch a pilot project to rebuild the Congress party’s grassroots structure.
Congress has been out of power in Gujarat for over 30 years. This visit marks a key step to regain lost ground.
Gandhi will begin his tour in Ahmedabad. He will attend an orientation meeting with 42 AICC and 183 PCC observers. The Congress appointed them on April 12 to oversee new appointments in 33 districts and 8 cities. The process covers 41 organisational units.
“These observers will help select strong local leaders,” said Gujarat Congress President Shaktisinh Gohil. “Rahul Gandhi will guide them and share the leadership’s expectations,” he added.
On April 16, Gandhi will visit Modasa in the Aravalli district. There, he will address party workers and launch the pilot initiative.
This program aims to strengthen district-level units. Congress will use it as a test model for other states.
His visit follows the AICC and CWC sessions held in Ahmedabad on April 8 and 9. These meetings marked Congress’s renewed focus on Gujarat.
In March, Gandhi toured Gujarat and met party workers and civil society groups. He urged them to focus on grassroots mobilisation and inclusive politics.
The Rahul Gandhi Gujarat visit signals a strong push to rebuild the party from the bottom up.
