RBI Wins Digital Transformation Award 2025 For Pravaah And Sarthi Systems

Central Banking London praised RBI’s initiatives for transforming internal and external processes. The successful adoption of Sarthi and Pravaah reflects RBI’s commitment to digital innovation.

RBI

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has won the Digital Transformation Award 2025 from Central Banking, London. RBI announced the achievement in a post on X, highlighting that the award recognizes its in-house developed Pravaah and Sarthi systems. These initiatives have modernized RBI’s processes by reducing paper-based submissions and improving efficiency.

Sarthi Improves Internal Workflows

To begin with, Sarthi, meaning “charioteer” in Hindi, digitized RBI’s internal workflows. It went live in January 2023, allowing employees to store and share documents securely. The system improved record management and enhanced data analysis through reports and dashboards.

Moreover, RBI’s IT team played a key role in Sarthi’s success. They consulted staff to understand their needs before building the system. Senior nodal officers from each department supported the upgrade. The online Sarthi Pathshala (“school”) and in-person training helped employees adapt to the system. Additionally, Sarthi mitras (“friends”) were appointed in each RBI office to assist colleagues with any issues.

Pravaah Streamlines Regulatory Submissions

Subsequently, the second stage of RBI’s digital transformation began with Pravaah (“smooth flow” in Hindi) in May 2024. Pravaah allows external users to submit regulatory applications digitally. Documents submitted through Pravaah are processed within the Sarthi system, ensuring secure handling and centralized tracking.

Notably, Central Banking London praised RBI’s initiatives for transforming internal and external processes. The successful adoption of Sarthi and Pravaah reflects RBI’s commitment to digital innovation.
