Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent a powerful message of unity as he took a dip at the Triveni Sangam—the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati—during the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj on Wednesday.
Surrounded by the chants of Vedic hymns, PM Modi immersed himself with deep faith, marking the occasion as a moment of divine connection.
Before the ritual bath, PM Modi performed prayers to Lord Surya, chanted on Rudraksha beads, and conducted rituals in honor of Maa Ganga, Maa Yamuna, and Maa Saraswati.
The Prime Minister also performed the Ganga Puja and Aarti. Upon his arrival in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath warmly welcomed him.
Adhering to tradition, PM Modi touched the holy waters in reverence before performing Tarpan and prayers to the Sun.
Dressed in a black kurta, saffron sash, and Himachali cap, PM Modi offered ‘akshat’, ‘naivedya’, flowers, fruits, and a red ‘chunari’ to the sacred confluence as Vedic hymns echoed across the banks.
After his dip, the Prime Minister performed the Aarti of the three rivers. He was then honored with a tilak by the Tirtha Purohit.
PM Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath took a boat ride back to the helipad after the ritual.
Maha Kumbh: A Symbol of National Unity and Global Togetherness
PM Modi’s participation in the Maha Kumbh highlighted the ideals of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ and ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (The World is One Family), symbolizing national unity and global togetherness.
His sacred bath also coincided with an auspicious celestial alignment, with Gupt Navratri and Bhishmashtami taking place on the same day.
Gupt Navratri honors the Goddess, while Bhishmashtami marks ancestral Tarpan and Shraddha.
The Prime Minister arrived at Prayagraj Airport in the morning, then traveled to the DPS helipad aboard an MI-17 helicopter, where Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath received him.
From there, he journeyed to Arail Ghat and boarded a boat to reach the Triveni Sangam.
During the boat ride, PM Modi discussed the extensive arrangements for the Maha Kumbh with CM Yogi Adityanath and greeted the devotees gathered at the Sangam.
Upon reaching the confluence, PM Modi joined thousands of pilgrims in their sacred rituals. Despite the VVIP visit, there were no restrictions on public participation, ensuring a seamless experience for all.
Since the commencement of the Maha Kumbh on 13 January, over 39 crore devotees have taken the holy dip, underscoring the success of the well-managed arrangements.
PM Modi’s visit comes a month after his previous trip to Prayagraj on 13 December, where he inaugurated 167 development projects worth Rs 5,500 crore.
These projects aimed to improve infrastructure, including railway station upgrades, road widening, and the development of permanent ghats, riverfronts, and utilities, enhancing the experience of the Maha Kumbh for devotees and marking a new phase of progress for Prayagraj.
