The 5th International Conference, jointly organized by the Himalaya-Hind Masagar Rashtra Samuh (HHRS), Forum for Awareness on National Security (FANS), Hansraj College (University of Delhi), Himalayan Studies, and the Nelson Mandela Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution (Jamia Millia Islamia), successfully concluded.
The concluding session featured keynote speaker Dr. Indresh Kumar, National Executive Member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Chief Patron of the FANS, as well as chief guest Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, former Minister of State in the Central Government, Kalon Gyari Dolma (Security Department, Central Tibetan Administration), Erny Wahuni (Second Secretary, Social and Cultural Affairs, Republic of Indonesia), and Padma Bhushan awardee, senior journalist Ram Bahadur Rai as a distinguished guest. Dr. Shahid Akhtar, Member of the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions, Government of India, presided over the session. Prof. BW Pandey, Dean of Works, DU, delivered the welcome address, while Sardar Jasbir Singh presented the concluding remarks.
In his address, Dr. Indresh Kumar emphasized that the time has come for India to lead the world. He stated that people from all castes, religions, and communities believe in India’s ability to lead globally. “India has never been governed by external advice; our ancestors have always enlightened us with wisdom. A time will come when the transformation will be visible to all,” he said. Dr. Indresh Kumar also asserted that distrust is a crime in the life of a nation, and only faith can unite a country. He stressed that India is a nation that believes in upliftment, not destruction, and by 2047, it will emerge as a developed country.
Former Minister of State Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh highlighted India’s collaborative efforts with Asian nations to combat terrorism. He pointed out that the Indian economy is thriving and India is a country that takes everyone along on its journey of growth.
Kalon Gyari Dolma remarked, “India is like a home to us. I want to tell all Asian nations that there is no country like India. It is a nation that works for the well-being of all, and that is why all countries look toward India with hope. India can be trusted under all circumstances.”
Senior journalist Padma Bhushan Ram Bahadur Rai praised the efforts of conference organizer Golok Bihari and said, “Discussions on Asian nations, collaboration, and participation have never been taken up seriously in our country before. Golok Bihari Ji has undertaken a major initiative, and I hope it will expand further.” Discussing past leadership efforts, he remarked, “Jawaharlal Nehru and Sheila Dikshit attempted similar initiatives, but they did not yield significant results.” He further stated that the light emerging from India has the power to dispel global darkness, and this conference will strengthen Asian nations. “The world acknowledges that this century belongs to Asia, and India will lead it.”
Presidential Address
In his presidential address, Prof. Dr. Shahid Akhtar emphasized the need to promote Indian culture through all available mediums. He stated that such conferences can significantly strengthen India and the nations of the Himalayan-Indian Ocean region. He also commended Dr. Indresh Kumar’s leadership in accelerating efforts to unite Asian countries and congratulated the organizers for their initiative.
Conference Highlights and Technical Sessions
During the welcome speech, Prof. BW Pandey reflected on how the conference delved into Indian knowledge traditions, which would be beneficial for all. He mentioned that it is a matter of pride for India when the President of Indonesia visits and acknowledges that his DNA is Indian.
Sardar Jasbir Singh provided an overview of the two-day international conference, stating that India’s cultural, religious, and historical heritage is profound. “When we protect our culture, only then can its security be ensured. India is a land where foreign visitors do not just come as tourists; they feel like pilgrims.”
The second day of the conference featured esteemed guests, including Major General Vethop Namgyal (Ambassador, Bhutan), Koy Kuong (Ambassador, Cambodia), John Boite C. Santos (Ambassador, Philippines), Ina Hagniningtyas (Ambassador, Indonesia), and Dr. Shankar P. Sharma (Ambassador, Nepal).
Among the key academic figures who addressed various sessions were Prof. Rama (Principal, Hansraj College, DU), Prof. Mohammad Mehtab Alam Rizvi (Registrar, JMI), Prof. Vijay Rani Rajpal (Vice-Principal, Hansraj College, DU), Dr. Shailu Singh (Economics Department, Hansraj College, DU), Sardar Jasbir Singh (National Executive President, FANS), Dr. Imran Chaudhary, Dr. Ritesh Rai, Dr. Vijay Kumar, Mr. Vikramaditya Singh, and General RN Singh.
The second day featured four technical sessions with discussions led by approximately 25 academicians from around the world.
• Session 1: “Economic Relations between India and Southeast Asia” was chaired by Prof. Ravindra Kumar (Jamia Millia Islamia) and moderated by Dr. Pawan Kumar. Dr. Anmol Mukhia, Dr. Shripathi Narayanan, and Dr. Bishwajit Loitongbam discussed emerging opportunities in trade and investment.• Session 2: “Emerging Trends in India-Southeast Asia Relations” was chaired by Dr. Arya Bhushan Shukla (ICAS President) and moderated by Dr. Satya Prakash. Dato Kumaran Santhivelu, Dr. Shriparna Pathak, and Ms. Amrita Karambelkar spoke on strategic alliances and diplomatic engagements.
• Session 3: “Security Cooperation between India and Southeast Asia” was chaired by Prof. Shakeel Hussain and moderated by Dr. Aamna Mirza (SPM College). The session featured discussions by Prof. Vo Xuan Vinh (Vietnam), Dr. Rishi Gupta, and Prof. Joef B. Santarita (Philippines) on regional security frameworks.
• Session 4: “Challenges and Opportunities in India-Southeast Asia Relations” was chaired by Prof. Arvind Kumar Jha (IGNOU), with Dr. Dhanwanti Yadav as convener. The session included discussions by Dr. Anshuman Behera, Dr. Bishwajit Mahapatra, and Dr. Deepti Singh on political, economic, and cultural cooperation.
During the closing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Vijay Kumar (Galgotias University) extended gratitude to all organizers, speakers, and participants for their invaluable contributions. The 5th HHRS International Conference 2025 concluded with key insights and a roadmap for the future of India-Southeast Asia cooperation.
