On Monday, Kia India unveiled plans to significantly increase its exports of completely knocked-down (CKD) vehicle units, aiming to double its current volume by 2030.

The move is part of the company’s long-term strategy to enhance its presence in the global automotive supply chain, with a strong emphasis on expanding into key markets in the Middle East and Africa.

Kia India Hits 1,00,000 CKD Export Milestone

The announcement comes as Kia celebrates a major achievement: surpassing the milestone of exporting 1,00,000 CKD units since shipments began in June 2020 from its Anantapur manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh.

Currently, Kia India accounts for 50% of the global CKD exports of its parent company, Kia Corporation, underscoring the vital role of its Indian operations in the company’s international growth.

To date, Kia India has exported a total of 3,67,000 vehicles, with popular models such as the Seltos, Sonet, and Carens leading the way.

In 2024, the company targets exporting over 38,000 CKD units to strategic markets, including Uzbekistan, Ecuador, and Vietnam.

Kia’s Anantapur plant, equipped with cutting-edge manufacturing technology, is strategically located near major ports, which enhances the efficiency of its export logistics.

This facility plays a critical role in supporting Kia India’s expansion and export goals.

The company’s focus on expanding its CKD exports to the Middle East and Africa is driven by increasing demand in these regions for affordable and reliable vehicles.

Joonsu Cho, Chief Sales Officer of Kia India stated, “Looking ahead, we aim to expand our CKD footprint in the Middle East and Africa to double our export volume by 2030.”

Cho also credited the Indian government’s export-friendly policies for supporting this growth. He further added that these policies have played a key role in enhancing India’s position within the global automotive value chain.

By prioritizing CKD exports while meeting domestic demand, Kia India aims to solidify its status as a global manufacturing hub, paving the way for continued success in international markets.
